Wedding Inspiration for Bridal Trousseau straight from the runway of India Couture Week 2016
The majestic grandeur of The India Couture Week saw a pret line of breezy designer outfits with 11 best designers from India showcasing their bridal couture collection in a much blingy manner. The five day fashion gala ended on a sweet note on Sunday at the capital with the best of colours, silhouttes and styles.
Lending an old school charm to the collection, we saw designers like Manav Gangwani and Tarun Tahiliani showcased their work with mirror work, gota patti, bardot blouses teamed up in conventional maroons and reds. Apart from the heavily embellished lehengas and skirts, the Gangwani show also saw 70 handcrafted silhouettes that captured the era of the Mughals and the royal age effortlessly with flowing kaftans, flamboyant saris and classic sherwani in shades of ivory, black, navy, green, maroon and white. We also saw designer Varun Bahl presenting a fantasy bouquet with his collection which was a symphony of sophisticated colours, textures and patterns that was fashion forward yet very feminine.

The connoisseur of couture wear is more than happy with the “fruitful evolution” of the couture industry in the country. “Many designers are working out new handcrafting techniques, digital technologies, unusual fabric, and contrasting colour combinations in their designs. In terms of inspirations, muse, concepts and notions, the sky is the limit. Minimalistic ensembles are gaining popularity over traditional and classic ones,” said Gangwani, who has designed for international singers like Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga and Eric Clapton.

When the time stood still by this talented and spirited soul uplifted the dreamy romanticizing trait of every woman gaping in awe and wonder. Changing the basic dupatta into a cape and draping it over the lehenga gracefully gave the girl’s major fashion goals. We were all eyes at this amazing show. Of course, the color palette was to watch out for- from ivories to reds and oranges beautifully displaying the suppleness of young romance. Models wearing fresh dewy makeup keeping it basic and minimal for that extra glam surely gave us love bumps.

The Vintage Garden inspired floral theme was indeed a million dollar spectacular show. Every bride to be’s dream come true with beautiful colors showcasing a bouquet of flowers on the ramp. The makeup and hairdo was to watch out for the upcoming wedding season. Not sure what to do with your frizzy mane? Cover up with some precious jewels—at Varun Bahl models wore bejewelled headbands, almost like crowns, over texturised hair tied at the back into a messy bun. A spritz of texturising spray as a first step will add body to your hair and prep it up just right.

The collection gives out a global message that India is very much a part of the globe and is the leading global country. It’s a statement collection of contemporary, almost futuristic new Indian wear. All of us are well travelled global citizens, but at the same time we enjoy the Indian-ness explained the designer when asked about his flawless couture collection.
